Heat Exchangers
Gemak specialises in the design and manufacture of a wide range of heat exchangers for the food, dairy, beverage, chemical sectors. Gemak’s highly efficient heat exchangers are suitable for any heat transfer application providing solutions that optimize energy utilization while minimizing downtime.
Our heat exchangers technologies include Gasketed Plate Heat Exchangers, Brazed Type
Gasketed Plate Heat Exchangers:
Gemak have partnered with industry leader Alfa Laval as the solution partner for gasketed and brazed type plate heat Exchangers. The conventional type of plate heat exchangers uses heat transfer plates fitted with gaskets that seal off each channel from the next, and direct the fluids into alternate channels.
This type of plate heat exchanger is used throughout the industry as standard equipment for efficient heating, cooling, heat recovery, condensation and evaporation. Generally speaking, all of these units are notable for:
-
High thermal efficiency for effective heat transfer
-
Compact design resulting in small quantities of materials used for heat transfer surfaces
-
Low installation cost
-
Easy dismantling and easy, rapid cleaning
-
High performance with low hold-up volume
-
Versatile, modular design
-
Environmentally efficient
The range is continually being updated and extended to include new technical features and design innovations.
There is also a range of special wide-gap gasketed plate heat exchangers designed to cope with fluids that contain fibres and coarse particles. Units with wide-gap channels are also eminently suitable for use with viscous fluids.
Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers:
In the majority of Gemak processing applications, brazed types of heat exchangers are used within hot water preparation systems for pasteurization. Efficient heat transfer with an extremely small footprint, making them ideal for demanding installations where space is at a premium, brazed plate heat exchangers forming a self-contained unit that can handle both high pressures and high temperatures resulting in significant increases in overall efficiency.
The thin, corrugated stainless steel plates used in the CB design are brazed together with copper. This forms a self-contained unit that can handle both high pressures and high temperatures. And unlike traditional designs, the brazed plate heat exchanger consists solely of surfaces that actively contribute to heat transfer, resulting in significant increases in overall efficiency.
Scraped Surface Heat Exchangers:
Scraped heat exchangers are used for products that are viscous, sticky, with particles that alter state when heated where plate heat exchanger applications are not suitable and result in fouling.
Gemak manufacture scraped surface heat exchangers from different range alloys and treatment levels depending on the application, product, food safety, wear and chemical corrosion.
Some application areas include dairy, food, chemical and pharma
Tube in Tube Heat Exchangers:
Gemak Tube in tube heat exchangers is made up of a shell and a core. Depending on the product and viscosity they are designed as a single-core tube with an outer shell or multicore tubes with an outer shell. They are suitable for high temperature and UHT treatment with high design pressure for liquid and viscose products. Our designs allow efficient and easy inline and also mechanical cleaning with floating types. Some of the features include a robust design, handling of high viscose products, easy maintenance, high particle capacity.
